Dr. Tigchelaar has been practicing veterinary medicine since he graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2004. He has practiced small animal medicine and surgery in both Canada and the UK and made the move to the Okanagan in 2015.

Outside of work he spends most all his time with his wife (also a veterinarian), three children, his BC SPCA adopted newfie dog Foster, and his three cats: Stewie, The Old Man, and Pudge. While he is still not used to the hot summers of the Okanagan, his family has settled in well, made many good friends, and hope to make this their home for a long time to come.
